Sarah Hoskens, MA, LMHC, LPC, NCC, is the owner of Embracing Balance Counseling Solutions and a licensed therapist who believes therapy works best when you can show up as your whole self—without having to censor, explain or defend who you are. She earned her Master of Arts in Counselor Education and Certificate in Marriage, Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Central Florida and is licensed in Florida, Georgia and Pennsylvania. She is also a National Certified Counselor and Florida Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy Interns.
Sarah specializes in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples and families, ethically non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships, kink/BDSM communities, couples navigating communication, intimacy and relationship challenges; and mothers balancing identity, relationships, careers and caregiving, including raising children with developmental differences or disabilities.
Her style is warm, direct, collaborative, sex-positive and genuinely non-judgmental. Sarah isn't the kind of therapist who simply nods and asks, “How does that make you feel?” She believes good therapy means understanding why we think, feel and behave the way we do, recognizing patterns that aren't working anymore, and figuring out what to do differently. She brings education, humor, curiosity and the occasional gentle challenge into the therapy room, helping clients build practical tools they can actually use in their lives—not keeping them in therapy forever.
Sarah has completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy training and brings extensive experience in LGBTQIA+ advocacy, HIV education, couples work and community mental health to her practice. As an Orlando native, er connection to Central Florida's LGBTQIA+ community began before she became a therapist and has remained an important part of her life and work. Following the Pulse massacre in 2016, she served as both a volunteer and counselor supporting members of the community affected by the tragedy.
An eternal learner at heart, Sarah approaches clients with curiosity rather than assumptions. She believes being a good therapist means recognizing that no amount of education makes you the expert on someone else's identity, relationships or lived experience, and she creates space for people whose identities, relationships and families don't always fit neatly into traditional boxes.
Sarah also provides clinical supervision and mentorship to emerging therapists, helping counselors develop their own clinical voices while providing competent, culturally responsive and affirming care.
